In 1983 before the small batch brewing movement was even a twinkle in the publics’ eyes, Carver Brewing Company had it’s first incarnation as Carver Brothers Bakery in Winter Park, Colorado. In 1986 part of the original crew, including the Carver Brothers, Bill and Jim, decided to head to Southwest Colorado to open Carvers Bakery/Café in Durango.
The love of baking soon spread to making the cleanest and best small batch beer in the Southwest. In 1988 Carvers opened the brewery – making it the first brewery in the four corners region since prohibition and the second brewpub in the state of Colorado. Although still known affectionately by the locals as “Carvers”, Carvers then became Carver Brewing Company. Since we first opened the brewpub, our beers have won national and international awards and our food has won national accolades for excellence. We hope that you come in to experience first hand our love of food and beer.
